About our Physiotherapy

We have an excellent team of experienced physiotherapists working in our Camberwell clinic. They each have their own subspecialty within physio, and enjoy treating. We have both male and female physiotherapists so if you have a preference, we can accommodate you.

Some of the presentations our physios LOVE working with include:

Please continue reading below for additional information on these specific areas of Physio.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is the treatment of all conditions that effect the joints, muscles, nerves, bones and ligaments within the human body. Whether you are the weekend warrior or just trying to keep up with your Grandkids, our team of physiotherapists are perfectly placed to help treat your aches and pains. If you’ve had surgery (or trying to avoid it), if you’ve suffered an injury at work or at home, or if you just can’t work out why you’re stiff and sore all the time, Instinct Health is the place for you.

Some of the common injuries we see include:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Shoulder injuries including rotator cuff tears
  • Pre and post surgery rehabilitation
  • Chronic pain
  • Fracture management

Sports Physiotherapy

Our Physios here at Instinct Health have worked at the elite and professional level of sport for many years. We have experience working in AFL and AFLW, Super Netball, Athletics, Premier League Hockey and NBL & WNBL and bring that wealth of experience back here to the clinic. We have also worked at local level sport and therefore understand that the community athlete deserves the same treatment and expertise as a professional.

As such, we use many of the same assessment and rehabilitation guidelines that the elite athletes use day-to-day. We use state of the art sports testing like VALD Forceplates, Hand Held Dynamometry for Strength Assessments and specific Return to Sport Criteria testing post-injury.

We conduct Pre-Season Injury and Performance Screenings for any athlete or team who wants to know where any opportunities for improvement lie, plus follow the elite standard of rehabilitation guidelines for a wide variety of injuries.

Pre & Post Natal Physiotherapy

We LOVE working with women right the way through their pregnancy journey, and helping in the post-natal recovery period too. We want you to have the best possible pregnancy and keep you fit, healthy and happy throughout. We will work with you to treat any aches or pains you and bub are having. Importantly, we also want to prepare you for delivery and then have the most appropriate recovery too. Once bub arrives, we will work with you to reduce pain, improve strength and get you back to doing the things you love most!

Some of the Pre Natal services we offer include:

  • Pelvic Floor Assessment
  • Pelvic Girdle Pain
  • Rib and Thoracic Pain
  • Round Ligament Pain
  • Pubic Symphysis Pain
  • Prescription of safe exercises during pregnancy

Some of the Post Natal services include:

  • Abdominal Separation assessment
  • C-section scar management/healing

Adolescent Physiotherapy

Teenagers are almost like adults. Almost. As such, your physio needs to know where the subtle differences are between adults and teenagers. Here at Instinct Health, we understand these differences and as such, treat our adolescent clients in that way. Adolescent injuries are a common presentation that we see here in the clinic and as such we are well placed to manage them with the respect, care and knowledge that they deserve.

Some of the adolescent conditions we see commonly here include:

  • Severe’s Disease
  • Osgood Schlatter’s Disease
  • Athletic Groin Pain
  • “Jumper’s Knee”
  • Heel pain
  • Ankle sprains
  • Bone fractures

New to Physiotherapy at instinct?

Do you accept GPMP (formerly Enhanced Primary Care Plan)?

Yes we do! If your GP has referred you to us we accept the GP management plan as part of your treatment and rehabilitation.

What to wear

This might sound like a bit of a strange question, but we hear it a lot! If you're seeing one of our physios in Camberwell, comfortable loose fitting clothing is best, bearing in mind that we might need to look at the body part that is affected. For example, if you've hurt your knee, consider wearing a pair or shorts or bringing a pair with you.

Can I claim my Private Health Insurance?

Absolutely! Provided that you have extras cover that includes physiotherapy you can claim on the spot with our HiCaps machine.

Do I need a referral?

No! We accept clients from any source, and without having to see a doctor prior to seeing us. We also accept referrals from clients who have been in workplace (WorkSafe) or road (TAC). If you have a WorkSafe or TAC claim number, bring these details with you to your first appointment.
