What is a physio?
Our goal is to provide you with the best physio Kew has to offer. A physiotherapist is an extremely well trained and highly educated health professional, specifically within the “Allied Health” subsection. Alongside physios, other health professionals within Allied Health include Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Podiatrists and Dietitians.
Every physio in our Kew offices will study for 5 years and specialise in the human anatomy and physiology, plus become experts in movement and the body’s ability to grow, heal and repair.
When seeing a physio at Instinct Health in Kew, you can come to expect any number of potential management strategies for your health concerns. These might include informing you on your condition to ensure you are aware with what you are dealing with, manual treatment options include massage or joint mobilisation and usually combined with some exercises to complete at home!
Do you only treat muscles?
Absolutely not! The physio you may see will absolutely be able to treat your muscle strain, but have experience and knowledge in broken bone, torn ligaments or the involvement of nerves in your aches or pains.
A physio will also work with the elderly on balance and falls prevention, athletes to help optimise their performance, as well as special groups including pre and post-natal women.
Some lesser known conditions that your local Kew physio can help you with include headaches, vertigo (dizziness) as well as the usual muscle strains and ligament and joint sprains!

New to Physiotherapy at instinct?
Do you accept GPMP (formerly Enhanced Primary Care Plan)?
Yes we do! If your GP has referred you to us we accept the GP management plan as part of your treatment and rehabilitation.
What to wear
This might sound like a bit of a strange question, but we hear it a lot! If you're seeing one of our physiotherapists, comfortable loose fitting clothing is best, bearing in mind that we might need to look at the body part that is affected. For example, if you've hurt your knee, consider wearing a pair or shorts or bringing a pair with you.
Can I claim my Private Health Insurance?
Absolutely! Provided that you have extras cover that includes physiotherapy you can claim on the spot with our HiCaps machine.
What do I do when I get there
Once you walk through our doors, you'll find yourself in our waiting room. If it's your first time at Instinct, grab a clipboard and a pen from the shelf and fill in some basic personal information. One of our clinicians will greet you as soon as possible.
We do ask that you arrive 10 minutes before your initial consultation to fill in some further information to start working towards your health goals.
