How long are the sessions?
45-50 minutes
Can I claim my session with Medicare or Private Health?
Psychological Sessions with a general psychologist attract a $89.65 benefit under a Mental Health Care Plan (which you can discuss with your Doctor). This MHCP gives you 10 claimable sessions per calendar year. Steps to calming;
- 1. GP appointment to obtain MHCP and referral for 6 sessions
- 2. Session 1 review plan with your psychologist
- 3. Session 5 GP check in for referral renewal for 4 session (After session ⅚, your psychologist will write to your GP to share progress and request additional session.
Claiming with Private Health is also accessible, this however depends on your cover.
What to expect?
Your first session will include both yourself and the psychologist exploring, confidentially, how any future sessions will proceed, your goals for therapy and what brought you to this service.
How do I know my psychologist is the right fit?
Therapist-client fit is an important thing to consider when seeking support. Your psychologists will make efforts to create a safe and open environment for you to discuss those tricky topics whilst also tailoring therapy to you.
