Women’s and Pelvic Health in Camberwell

Pelvic Health

specialised
pelvic floor physiotherapy

At Instinct Health, we are passionate about supporting Women’s and Pelvic Health through specialised pelvic floor physiotherapy. Our practice is focused on helping people regain confidence, reduce pain, and return to the activities that matter most to them.

Pelvic floor issues are more common than many realise, yet they are often hidden, isolating, and distressing. Problems such as bladder or bowel leakage, urgency, frequency, constipation, incomplete emptying, prolapse, or pelvic pain can impact daily life. This can extend from general exercise, sporting events or social activities and intimacy. Our role is to help restore control, improve quality of life, and ensure that these challenges do not hold you back.

Conditions We Treat

Our team at Instinct Health works with Women and Men experiencing:

  • Bladder leakage with coughing, sneezing, running, or exercise
  • Urgency or needing to rush to the toilet
  • Constipation or poor bowel control
  • Pelvic organ prolapses
  • Pelvic and sexual pain

Pre and Post Natal Care

We see huge changes and benefits for Women who seek early treatment during pregnancy, and after childbirth. In addition to pelvic issues, women are often subjected to lower back pain, pelvic girdle pain and mid-back pain. Support from our women’s health physios may include hands on therapy to relieve pain, provide bracing or supports and providing specific, pregnancy or post-natal, safe exercise to complete.

Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the womb, often causing significant pelvic pain, heavy periods, and difficulties with bladder or bowel function. For many women, it can also impact intimacy, exercise, and day-to-day comfort.

Physiotherapy plays an important role in the management of endometriosis. Our Pelvic Health physiotherapists work with you to reduce pain, improve pelvic floor muscle function, and provide strategies that support overall wellbeing. While endometriosis requires multidisciplinary care, physiotherapy is a valuable component in helping women regain confidence and control in their daily lives.

Pelvic Pain Classes

As part of our Women’s and Pelvic Health services at Instinct Health, we also run pelvic pain exercise classes. These small, supportive group sessions are designed to help people experiencing ongoing pelvic pain build confidence with movement, improve strength, and reduce pain. Exercises are tailored to the individual and focus on safe, effective ways to restore mobility and function. For many women, these classes provide not only physical benefits but also reassurance and connection during what can often feel like an isolating journey. They are only conducted in small groups, and focus specifically on low stimulus environments to allow you, and your body, to unwind and switch off.

Evidence Based Care

There is strong research showing that pelvic floor problems can be effectively treated with a tailored program developed and guided by a physiotherapist trained in pelvic health. We are committed to ongoing professional development and the use of the most up-to-date management strategies, so that every client receives the highest standard of care. We regularly update our skill sets with professional development and internal and external teaching opportunities to ensure that you are the always receiving the best care.
